Quarter Horse Pictures Biography

Source(Google.com)
Quarter horse, American breed of light horse that originated during the colonial era, partly from Arabian ancestry (see Arabian horse). The name refers to the horse's reputation for speed at the quarter-mile distance. It can spring into full speed and consequently is faster than the Thoroughbred for a short sprint. The breed was by far the most popular cattle horse in the early West. It continues in this role today and is also used almost exclusively for rodeo events such as cutting, roping, and barrel racing. Registered quarter horses are of solid colors, stand 15 to 16 hands (60–64 in./150–160 cm) high, weigh over 1,000 lb (450 kg), and have thick muscular shoulders and short necks.
He is rock solid on trails, a dream to ride in the arena, well patterned on
the barrels, started roping, and will watch a cow. He rides in any kind of
bridle from an o-ring to a hackamore. He has smooth gaits and will stop on
a dime. Never gives you any trouble at all, wonderful disposition. Ride him
in parades, take him to the show ring, use him as Queen Horse, run barrels,
finish him Roping, Team Pen on him or just a gorgeous pleasure horse. In the
time I have owned Major, I have done a little bit of everything on him, from
barrel racing, to roping, to trail rides, swimming rivers, rode him through
carnivals, ridden him bareback on trail rides with up 30 horses, taken him
on camping trips where he was tied on picket lines all night, ponies ornery
colts off of him, you name it, Major has done it. He ties, stands quietly
with no pawing; not buddy or barn sour in anyway. Perfect to clip and bathe
– even his face. Easy to bridle, saddle, groom, fly spray, stands perfect
for the farrier. Stands still to mount, loads easily in any slant load or
stock trailer, backs out or walks out. Absolutely NO issues or vices about
him.
As a barrel horse:
I really took my time with Major and brought him along slowly on the barrel pattern. I patterned him at ESPBRA which is a progressive association and did win a high point year end buckle on him. He has only been hauled to a few big races. He clocked in the 3D with room for improvement at the 2010 Vegas Super Show against 800riders. (Click here to verify) He ran a 15.50 on Friday and a 15.57 on Saturday. He has not been entered since the Vegas 2010 Super Show , but I can assure you he has not forgot the pattern. He is NOT a crazy barrel horse, will walk in quietly, no gate issues, and only go as fast as you ask. If you are interested in Major as a barrel horse, leg him back up and he is ready to enter.
